Emergency Room Wait Time Explanation
Huntsville Hospital Health System Emergency Department wait times are approximate and intended for informational purposes only. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.
The ED wait time is updated every fifteen minutes and represents the average time it takes for a patient to be placed into a treatment room to be seen by the Emergency Department practitioner on duty.
Patients are triaged (evaluated) on arrival by a registered nurse and are then seen by an emergency medicine provider based on severity. Those determined to require immediate attention will go directly to a room.
Please remember, we provide care to the most critical cases first. If an ambulance arrives with a critical patient or there is an emergency situation, the wait time for other patients may be affected. Wait times are always subject to change.
Our Pediatric Emergency Department at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children specializes in cases involving patients up to 21 years of age.
